Dear Registrar
Welcome and congratulations in getting an SpR job. The process to get a training number in Anaesthesia in Yorkshire is pretty tough, and as a result the vast majority of successful candidates do well in their training and flourish to become Consultants. The skills you have just used to land the SpR job are much the same skills to get you through the FRCA exam and when you look around, you will be impressed by the quality of your peers.
What we want is competence, reliability, safety and awareness of your limitations. What we hope to do is train you up to be a battle hardened senior trainee with good knowledge of clinical specialties, teaching ability, a paper or two, a knowledge of the NHS and a high degree of professionalism, who will romp into a senior post.
And in the process, treat a vast number of patients.
Each hospital has its own CNST induction day and departmental website on the trust intranet, full of useful advice and protocols. The purpose of this letter is to get you started and up to speed with the inevitable paperwork of being an SpR!
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact Regional Adviser, Dr Rob Cruickshank (0113 206 5580) we just want to help.
