Foundation Training
Foundation Training- the first stage of Postgraduate Medical TrainingFoundation training forms the first stage of postgraduate medical training. It spans two years and for logistical purposes is divided into Foundation 1 and 2 (F1 and F2).
The Deanery works in close collaboration with the Foundation Schools to ensure foundation training is of the highest quality. There are three schools covering distinct geographical regions: the West Yorkshire, the South Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation Schools. To access the school websites choose 'Foundation Schools' on the left.
Recruitment to Foundation Training is organised on a centralised national basis via the UK Foundation Programme Office.
Trainees are closely monitored throughout the programme. Several forms of Appraisal and Assessment are undertaken at various stages. In addition, and to ensure training is of a consistently high quality, we ask for feedback from trainees working through the programme.
A small number of foundation placements are available with a significant research and teaching element. The programmes offered differ for each foundation school, so please visit the appropriate schools site for further information.
