Recruitment and Retention

The Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber School of Psychiatry take part in National Recruitment for CT1 and ST4 intakes.

The National Recruitment Office for Psychiatry is Health Education North West.

Allocation of CT1 Training Programmes and Posts

The HEYH School of Psychiatry allocates into local Training Programmes based on National Recruitment ranking.  The highest scoring candidates are more likely to be offered their first choice of local Training Programme.  Please give this some thought before your interview as you will be asked for your local Training Programme preferences then.

For further information on our local Training Programmes, please go to our Core Training Scheme page.

Within local Training Programmes, TPDs are responsible for the allocation of posts.  Trainees are given as much choice as possible but the training needs of all the trainees on the Training Programme are the greatest influence on post allocation.

Allocation of ST4 Posts

If you are appointed to one of the following Higher Sub Specialties, and there are available posts, you will be asked to preference Training in either South or North, East and West Yorkshire.

  • Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
  • General Adult Psychiatry
  • Old Age Psychiatry

Allocations will be based on National Recruitment ranking.

The following Sub Specialties are delivered HEYH wide:

  • Forensic Psychiatry
  • Intellectual Disability
  • Psychotherapy

TPDs are responsible for all Higher Sub Specialty post assignment.

For further information on our Higher Sub Specialties, please go to our Higher Training Scheme page.
