Welcome to the School of Surgery site
Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery's School of Surgery provides high quality training to over 600 trainees in the region, and provides a wealth of opportunities across all surgical specialties. Opportunities for academic training are also available.
The aims of the School of Surgery are:
- To prepare and equip surgeons to meet the challenges of surgical practice and deliver the highest standard of care for patients.
- To deliver surgical education programmes within the deaneery that meet PMETB quality standards and embrace College guidelines and ethos.
- To recognise and respond to the needs of our trainees, trainers and their employers.
Training in the Yorkshire dn the Humber Deanery's School of Surgery occurs in hospitals in North and East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.
Quality Management, recruitment and training programme management are key responsibililtes of the School.
Less than full time training is fully supported across the deanery.
The Yorkshire and the Humber region is one of the most picturesque areas of the United Kingdom and includes two of the UK's twelve National Parks: The North Yorkshire Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. The Peak District National Park borders the south western edge of the region. The region combines superb shopping, entertainment and a lively pub/club culture, with stunnnng countryside and coasline.
