Adrian Spencer

Adrian qualified from Leeds in 1986, joining a previously single-handed practice in Featherstone, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire, as a vocational trainee in the first year it was piloted. He stayed on as an associate in what became a busy 2 surgery practice, becoming a partner in 1992, and although the practice has expanded to a second, larger site as well, he still remains in that original site to this day. A regular course attendee at his local postgraduate centre (Wakefield), Adrian started focussing on areas where he felt weaker clinically, eventually leading to his business partner saying “You go on lots of courses, why don’t you get involved in organising them?”. When a vacancy came up, Adrian joined the Deanery team as a district dental tutor, initially with responsibility for Wakefield and Huddersfield, appointed to bring a primary care voice to the team. For the last few years, Adrian has been responsible for organising more management courses, and in particular the 6 workshop management series run over 12 months.

Adrian has been active in his local area, working on (dental) clinical commissioning groups, OHAGs, West Yorkshire LDN (representing HEE), and is currently secretary of Wakefield Local Dental Committee – probably the most influential LDC in recent years.

Brian Nattress

Brian Nattress graduated from the University of Leeds Dental School in 1980. Following a series of junior hospital posts he returned to Leeds to take up the position of Lecturer in Conservative Dentistry. Having completed his programme of higher training in the speciality of Restorative Dentistry and doctoral thesis, he was appointed Senior Lecturer/Honorary Consultant at the Leeds Dental Institute. He has recently been appointed to the role of Clinical Professor within the field of clinical translational research. He recently stepped down from the role of Associate Postgraduate Dental Dean at HEE across Yorkshire and Humber but will retain his interest in providing postgraduate education through his role as Dental Tutor.

"Every six months, we produce a course planner which gives all the details of up and coming courses. We’re making sure our curriculum gives you a wide choice in CPD in order to help you provide the very best care for dental patients in the region."
