DBS Checks (formerly CRB)
GP trainees are required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check for each of their hospital training posts and to be included in the Performers List when in a GP placement (note this is carried out once for the first GP placement). Trainees are required to pay the cost of the check plus any administration fee.
We strongly recommend that trainees consider signing up to the DBS Update Service - this allows you to keep your DBS certificate up to date online and allows employers to check a certificate online instead of completing a new check. As of February 2014, the annual fee for the service is £13 - full information available at:
Please note you can register online as soon as you have your application form reference number. You can ask for the number when you apply for your DBS check.
Alternatively you can wait and register with your certificate number when you receive your DBS certificate. If so, you must do so within 14 days of the certificate being issued.
