IMT Online Induction - Assessment - Part 1

Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP)

Remember, most pieces of evidence can only be linked to two different curriculum items except ACATs which can be linked to eight.

Case Based Discussion (CBD)

Any one CBD can be linked to 2 curriculum items.

For IMT the decision aid stipulates that the minimum number of assessments is to only include consultant assessments. You are still encouraged to get StR assessments completed as these still have good educational value and can be linked to the curriculum.

Mini Clinical Evaluation Exercise (Mini-CEX)

Presently mini-CEX have to be completed by a consultant to count towards your minimum number for ARCP.

Mini-CEX may be linked to curriculum competencies as evidence of engagement with, and exploration of, the curriculum but any one mini-CEX should be linked to no more than two competencies in the curriculum.

Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS)

For potentially life-threatening procedures, summative sign off needs to be done by two separate people. Presently this is only pleural aspiration.

Over the last few years we’ve noted that some trainees have had difficulty in performing certain procedures in certain hospitals and we’ve tried to rectify this situation but any trainee having difficulty is advised to seek help via the usual channels earlier rather than later.
