2020 School of Radiology Fellowship posts

Details of four Yorkshire & Humber fellowship posts can be found below. Please note that the IR & INR posts in South Yorkshire are only open to trainees currently on the South training scheme. All have the same application deadline of 5pm, Monday 13th April.

 

 

Neuroradiology Fellowship ST4-ST6 Post - South scheme

Please note that at this time only current Yorkshire & Humber trainees are eligible to apply.

This post, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, in Sheffield offers a unique opportunity to obtain comprehensive training in all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology (including paediatric neuroradiology). This fellowship is part of the Yorkshire & Humber School of Radiology. RCR core curriculum neuroradiology imaging experience is required for entry at the ST4 level, and 6 months of neuroradiology imaging experience is essential, for ST5 entry, together with a clear demonstration of a career focus towards neuroradiology. The program will cover all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology imaging including diagnostic cerebral angiography and spinal interventional procedures leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training in Radiology. Sheffield has an excellent track record in training neuro radiologists, having trained 9 registrars to consultant level neuroradiology imaging posts in the past 10 years, many of whom are working in Yorkshire today.

Training in neuroradiology will comply with the standards specified in the neuroradiology sub section of the Royal College of Radiologists 2016 curriculum in clinical radiology.

Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) ST4-ST6 Post - South Scheme

This post, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, in Sheffield offers a unique opportunity to obtain comprehensive training in Interventional Neuroradiology. Previous interventional neuroradiology experience is not necessary and the 3-year program will cover all aspects of both diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology, (to achieve level 2 competency Interventional neuroradiology). Applicants with previous neuroradiology experience are able to apply and will enter the training program at the appropriate ST level.

Interventional Radiology (IR) ST4-ST6 Post - East Scheme

This post based at the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospitals in Hull offers a unique opportunity to obtain comprehensive training in interventional radiology (IR). This fellowship is part of the Yorkshire & Humber School of Radiology and will be coordinated by the Training leads for IR in Hull – Drs Saira Sayeed, Lynn Ling and Vivek Shrivastava. The post will have a 3 year duration (including year 6) to fulfil the RCR training requirements for a Consultant  Interventional Radiologist as outlined in the Sub-Speciality Training Curriculum for Interventional Radiology. Completion of the RCR core curriculum is required for entry at the ST4 level, together with a clear demonstration of a career focus towards IR. Acquisition of the part 2A exam is a desirable criterion for the post. The program will cover training in all aspects of both vascular and non-vascular intervention.

Hull is a busy IR unit which offers the full range of aortic (EVAR, TEVAR and FEVAR) and lower limb arterial intervention. It is a radiology led unit with close working relationships with vascular surgery. There is opportunity, should the trainee wish to attend vascular surgery clinics and theatre sessions. Attending the daily combined ward rounds with the vascular IR and vascular surgeon is actively encouraged.
