2027 National Recruitment

The National Recruitment Office for ST3 Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery is NHS England - North East and Yorkshire (formerly HEE). We are recruiting to posts across England and Scotland. All posts have the required educational and Dean’s approval.

Applications will open at 10am on Thursday 19th November 2026 and will close at 4pm on Tuesday 10th December 2026.  All interviews will take place online (dates in timeline below).  Applicants will submit one application electronically for all vacancies via the Oriel recruitment portal. The applicant handbook and person specification has not yet been released this will be released in due course. 

UPDATE - IMPORTANT INFORMATION for 2026 Recruitment

Please note that for 2027 Trauma & Orthopaedics recruitment there will be an amendment to the Self-Assessment. There will no longer be a N numbe used in the process and scores do not need weighting against the N number calculation.

Please be reminded that as of 2026 ATLS (or equivalent) is not an essential requirement for application to ST3 Trauma & Orthopaedics in the current recruitment.
