Professional Skills Courses FAQs

How much do the courses cost?

All our Courses are free of charge to delegates in the Yorkshire and Humber area.

Are these courses accredited?

All our courses for Consultants are accredited by the Royal College of Physicians, you will gain 6 CPD points for each full day and 3 CPD points for a half day course.

When and how should I apply for courses I would like to attend as I know they get fully booked fairly quickly?

You can view the list of current courses and check their availability on the Maxcourse online booking system.

If you don’t have a user account please create on by clicking ‘New user – start here’

After you have created your account, you will need to ensure that the following additional fields in ‘User Details’ are completed in order to be able to book onto a course:

  • Profession – Select the one/s that apply, this will be used to confirm you are applying for courses relevant to your current grade.

 The following fields can be found under ‘Personal details’ in the ‘User Details’ section

 

  • Gender
  • Main occupation – please select the one that best describes your current grade
  • Specialty – Select from drop down list
  • Trust – Select appropriate trust or ‘Not trust based’ if that is applicable

 

It is recommended you apply for courses as soon as possible as they fill up very quickly.

If a course you are interested in is fully booked you will be given the option to add yourself to the waiting list.

Application forms are currently being used for the 4 following courses:

  • Educational supervision
  • Equal opportunities
  • Human factor in patient safety
  • Harrogate Experience in Leadership and Management (HELM Course)

These forms are available on line for the by clicking on the course you are interested in from on the course listing table.  You can access this table by clicking on it from the left hand side of this page.  

Which courses should I apply for and at which stage of my training?

Do I need to attend all sessions within a module?

Only on the Core, Training the Trainers, Research and Management and Leadership Development modules are you expected to attend all sessions listed.

Can I mix individual course sessions between different modules?

Once you are booked onto a Core, Training the Trainers Research or Management & Leadership Development module you are expected to attend all sessions listed. If you cannot attend any of the sessions, contact us as soon as possible and we will try to accommodate you on one of the other modules for this specific session. Please bear in mind that all our courses get fully booked quickly and we can only do this if places are still available on the other modules.

Where can I find information on other courses in the Yorkshire area?

Contact your Education Centre at the hospital where you are employed, they should be able to help you.

I would like to attend an Education and Management course at Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber but I am employed elsewhere?

All our courses are open to delegates in the North of England.  If you are employed outside the region, please contact your local Education Centre or Post Graduate Centre for details of their courses.
