Foundation Training Programme Directors (FTPDs) play a crucial part in the direction of Foundation training programmes across the Yorkshire and Humber Foundation School (YHFS).
FTPDs report to their DME in the Trust and are accountable to the Postgraduate Dean via the Foundation School Director.
The FTPDs are responsible for the overall management and quality control of the Foundation Programme within their Trust.
The FTPD will work with the Local Education Provider (LEP) to ensure that each placement of the programme and the programme as a whole meets the NHSE, NES, NIMDTA or HEIW standard for training and that each foundation doctor is able to access a comprehensive range of experiences which will enable them to gain the competences necessary for full registration and completion of foundation training.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Foundation training across the region. They will also have strong leadership and communication skills and be able to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
The post is funded by YHFS, remunerated to the LEP on the NHS Consultant Pay Scale for 1.0 PA per week.
All work undertaken is to be incorporated into the Consultants Job Plan.
This is a Trust wide role, and the successful candidate will have knowledge of all rotations and trainees. They will also be expected to cover for the other FTPDs during periods of absence.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- To manage and quality control a specified foundation training programme.
- To ensure that all Foundation doctors in the programme have access to suitable training which will allow them the opportunity to achieve the requirements for satisfactory completion of the Foundation programme.
- To work with the LEP for the effective development of a local faculty of educators capable of delivering foundation training.
- To work with the FSD and faculty to ensure foundation training benefits from a coordinated approach.
