Leadership Opportunities for International Medical Graduates

The following leadership opportunities may be of interest to you throughout your training.

Future Leaders Programme

The Future Leaders Programme offers opportunities for medical and dental trainees, public health registrars, and qualified nurses/midwives, allied health professionals, pharmacists, and health care scientists working within Yorkshire to do a one-year Leadership Fellowship to help grow and develop their personal leadership skills.

The Fellowships are based both within the Yorkshire and Humber deanery and in hospitals and community settings within our region. Fellows take on live projects, one year in length, and are responsible for their design and development under the supervision of an experienced leader.

The Leadership Fellows meet regularly and also organise the annual Future Leaders Conference. The Fellows have access to a variety of development opportunities including coaching, 360 appraisal, participation in an Action Learning Sets, Myers Briggs Type Indicator feedback, and many more.

A range of Fellowships are available every year, including posts that will be of specific interest to International Medical Graduates where you can make a difference to the experiences of your fellow IMGs. This includes a SuppoRTT Fellowship focusing on improving support and resources for IMGs and a Differential Attainment Fellowship.

For more information about the Future Leaders Programme and to see the range of Fellowship opportunities available, please see the Future Leaders Programme webpage.

Trainee Executive Forum

The Yorkshire and Humber Trainee Executive Forum was created in 2020 and provides a platform for all postgraduate doctors and dentists in training in the Yorkshire and Humber region to offer feedback, share ideas for ways to improve training, and raise any concerns regarding the quality of their education, training and experience in the region.

The Forum's purpose is to promote excellent training, enhance recruitment and retention and improve the postgraduate doctor and dentist in training experience for all. The Forum is chaired and run by trainees in direct contact with the YH Postgraduate Dean and the Deanery team.

The Forum is structured with an Executive and Wider Forum who work together collaboratively to drive improvements in quality of education and training, well-being, and support.

To find out more about the opportunities to engage with the Trainee Executive Forum, and the potential to represent the voice of your peers, please see the Trainee Executive Forum webpage.
