The School of Paediatrics wishes to involve trainees in all areas of management, whatever their level of seniority, to ensure we are providing a service that is tailored to your needs and that you feel part of.
We seek representation from all levels of training and all training locations (level 1, 2 and 3 training and West, East and South areas). Not only does this help to involve trainees and to improve the functions of the School, but it is also a useful experience for trainees in management and training which can strengthen their CVs. Every area of the school has a training committee (STC), which is usually chaired by a TPD in that region, and which meets regularly to agree on aspects of the management of training and to distribute information. The trainee representatives will attend the STC meetings in their area.
In addition, all of the TRs are invited to meet together with the Head of School and TPDs at regular intervals for the Trainee Forums, which provides an opportunity to express any concerns about training
The level 3 trainee representatives and the college trainee representative will also attend the 3 monthly school board meetings or send a more junior trainee representative from their own region to raise awareness of the managerial process of the school and the decisions made within this.

The TRs are recruited by the identification of volunteers, but because trainees regularly move on, opportunities soon arise for interested trainees. If you are interested in participating in this important role, then please contact the Paediatric Programme Support Team.
