Is our regional supported return to training (suppoRTT) programme meeting the needs of International medical graduates (IMGS) new to the NHS? IMGs account for a significant proportion of the NHS workforce. In 2020, over 10,000 IMGs joined the NHS medical workforce – more than UK and EEA graduates combined. Those starting in the NHS are faced with unique and variable challenges. Since 2020, IMG trainees have been specifically included in SuppoRTT programme. However, there are still gaps in our offering for IMGs/refugee doctors. This is an exciting opportunity is for a Future leadership fellow to commence a project with three main components. Firstly, the SuppoRTT project in which you will have the opportunity to determine both the scope and direction. Secondly, your own personal development as a leader, in this respect you are the project. The third component is the successful completion of a relevant one-year postgraduate qualification of your choice. Regular supervision with an Associate Dean will be timetabled. Interested applicants for whom English is not their first language may wish to consider HEE coaching towards preparation for an application.
