This fellowship provides the opportunity for an aspiring leader to play an important role in transforming Mental Health Services for the people of Sheffield. The fellow will work to support cross-system introduction of the new Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults with Serious Mental Illness in Sheffield. South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw has been one of 12 early implementer sites for this new framework. A key national change in line with the NHS Long-Term Plan change is from centralised mental health services to a Primary Care Network based on local population needs. We are scaling up from four Primary Care Networks covering 30 per cent of the city population in 20/21 and six networks covering 50 per cent of the population in 20/22 to the whole city by 2023/4.The fellow will also work with regional colleagues as part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Sustainability and Transformation project. This includes supporting SHSC’s commitment of engaging with the Yorkshire and Humber care record. The fellow will develop a personal project of interest based on an analysis of an unmet need. This will require the development and utilisation of the NHS nine leadership dimensions including sharing the vision, engaging a team and influencing others. The project will be supported by the Primary and Community Mental Health Service and the Joint Executive Board across partner organisations supporting greater understanding of the process for transformation.
