Parental
•The aim of this page is to signpost you to the key information you may need in the early parental journey.
•Congratulations to those reading this page in pregnancy. This resource was initially developed for pregnant trainees at work, preparing for maternity leave and returning to work, with the aim to provide up to date information or highlight where to find it. It has expanded to provided resources for other trainees and supervisors. Numerous challenges surround pregnancy, including LTFT training, paternity and shared leave, adoption, fertility and bereavement. In recognition of this, additional resources have been signposted for a variety of trainees facing the early parental stages
•We cannot recommend strongly enough liaising with SuppoRTT, your local/regional supervisors, and other trainees who have recently been through the process. Please always ask for help if you are struggling. Pregnancy, maternity leave and the return to work may all run smoothly, but in reality this may be a fluctuant path, and there are likely to be some challenges. Often there are simple solutions that can be enacted to reflect your specific circumstances and the demands of the Anaesthetic trainee role.
•Useful tips are provided in each section to highlight the guidance out there at local, regional and national level, and point you in the right direction. Pregnancy creates additional challenges to the trainee role. In continuing your training safely you may have a number of questions, hopefully these have been addressed in the sections below. This page represents a dynamic piece of work. If you have any suggestions to update/add to this page we welcome the shared resources.
