Leadership Fellow - Developing PED patient pathways

Eligible professional groups: Medical Specialty Trainees (ST3+), Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) Doctors, Nurses / Midwives

Post start date: August 2021

The successful applicant will be involved in a brand new project based in the Leeds General Infirmary Paediatric Emergency Department (LGI PED) developing same day emergency care (SDEC) pathways for children attending the department.

This project will involve the candidate collaborating with the Leeds Children’s Hospital to streamline patient flow, management and safe early discharge by: 

- Optimising speciality assessment pathways, formalising speciality specific conditions and their management, expanding rapid access speciality outpatient clinic access, expanding agreed pathways  

-Developing condition specific nurse led discharge pathways  

-Utilising novel digital communication and virtual consultation opportunities    

 

They will also have the opportunity to: 

●          Test, develop and apply leadership skills 

●          Innovate and provide strategic solutions for the NHS 

●          Develop skills and experience in project and change management

●          Network and work alongside senior leaders 

●          Collaborate across the organisation with multiple stakeholders, attend board meetings, liaise with multi-professional teams

●          Gain exposure to organisation financial management

●          Develop a mutually agreed bespoke personal development plan to further enhance their future career opportunities

●          Complete a qualification eg. PGCert in Medical Management and Leadership (or equivalent)

●          Attend FLP training days, educational sessions of interest, network meetings and events.
