Leadership Fellow - Self assessment in ARCP and AFP selection

Post reference: FLP 2021 / Bid 10

Host organisation: Yorkshire and humber Foundation School (HEE)

Post location: Flexible any of the 3 YH offices

Eligible professional groups: Medical Specialty Trainees (ST3+), Public Health Registrars (ST3+), Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) Doctors

Post start date: August 2021

The project will require a motivated and self directed individual to consult with trainees and trainers about the use of self assessment tools for Academic Foundation Post selection and ARCP curriculum attainment.

In addition the successful fellow will critically appraise the current evidence on self assessment both relating to selection and curriculum attainment in Education.

You will develop and validate self assessment tools based on the output from the engagement with trainers and trainees as well as a critical appraisal of previous work. These tools will then be piloted for May/June ARCP's in 2022 and Academic selection in Nov/Dec 2022 ( having been derived from the 2021 interview process).

In addition you will be expected to complete a PGCert or equivalent, attend Foundation Senior team Meetings, attend regional committee meetings, present and attend a regional and national meetings. Previous Foundation FLP's have been very active in the FLP programme and the FLP conference. You will be expected to be involved in some of the regional training days to develop and maintain your teaching skills but this will not interfere with the main goal of self assessment tool development.

The Foundation team has an excellent track record with developing and supporting our FLP trainees. The school has had at least one leadership fellow every year since its inception and our fellows are an integral part of the team producing work that benefits all YH HEE trainees.

Closing date:  16:00 on Fri 13 November 2020
