Curriculum
The General Surgical curriculum was updated in August 2013. More details can be found under the curriculum tab within your ISCP account.
Some key changes for 2013 were:
A greater emphasis on emergency general surgery; ideally as blocks of training to gain continuity of care.
As vascular has become a separate subspecialty there is a reduction in the vascular surgery within the general surgical syllabus.

FRCS Exam
Trainees will not be permitted to make a 1st attempt at the MCQ until entering their ST7 year. You are required to have an outcome 1 at your ARCP.
