Appraisal and Assessments

Assessment throughout Internal Medicine Training in Yorkshire and the Humber has both formal and informal elements to it with the latter primarily being provided through the extensive on the job feedback from your senior colleagues and the design of the rotations to allow varied experience and extensive acute take work ensure this covers all areas of your curriculum. This section of the website however is dedicated to the formal elements of assessment and is designed to help you in both understanding and passing them. Further information on assessment can be obtained from the JRCPTB website section on assessment.

Trainees are assessed annually at their "Annual Review of Competence Progression" (ARCP) and further information on this as well as other key areas relating to assessment can be found by using the links above under "appraisal and assessment". Outcomes at the ARCP are primarily decided using the ARCP decision aid, the latest version of which can be downloaded from the JRCPTB website.
