The Programmes within Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber are designed to provide themed training in the following subspecialties:
Each programme provides a year within each subspecialty theme and two other affiliated specialties. Most trainees will rotate through General Surgery and Trauma & Orthopaedics as part of the Surgical Core Curriculum in order to fulfil the requirements of the MRCS.
Each rotation is devised to provide a year in a peripheral hospital and a year in a teaching hospital to maximise Core Surgical training. As a consequence rotational swaps will be considered only in the most exceptional circumstances.
