Radiology in Harrogate District Hospital

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust cares for a population of approximately 250,000 providing essential hospital services for the Harrogate and Rural District and also North East and West Leeds. In addition, the organisation provides a range of specialist community services to a wider population.

In the Radiology Department there are nine consultants in post with the likely addition of further posts in the near future.  All consultants are keen and enthusiastic to teach with ‘on the job’ teaching and also additional regular tutorials and exam viva teaching. There are many weekly multidisciplinary team meetings which registrars are encouraged to attend and we have an excellent radiology library which trainees find extremely useful for exam preparation. There are excellent opportunities for research and audit. Trainee feedback is excellent.

All the Harrogate consultants perform general radiology and all have sub-specialist interests. We have SpRs in all years, including a general attachment for first year registrars. Trainees gain general DGH experience and we offer more specialist training attachments in musculoskeletal, chest, cross sectional and gastrointestinal radiology.

The Radiology Department in Harrogate aims to deliver high quality training in a friendly, approachable environment and to be flexible to suits the needs of individual trainees.
